Baby Girl's First Birthday!

We started Julianne's first birthday celebration with a small party at her daycare.  I baked pink cupcakes and arranged them in the shape of a "1" for the birthday girl to share.  (It's hard to see, but Julianne's name is written down the middle in icing too!)
Julianne poked, squeezed, and explored her very first cupcake- and then ate the whole thing.  Delicious!
The following day was Julianne's first birthday party at home, arranged in a pink theme!
Big Brother is READY to help blow out that candle!
I decorated the birthday girl's cake to look like the "1st Birthday" napkins & plates we had at the party, and edged the cake with colorful gumdrops.

Julianne's cake was accepted onto  Hooray, Julianne!

The Caption Contest was a game that continued throughout the party.
Guests wrote clever captions for pictures of Julianne from birth through her first birthday!
(The pictures with captions were put into an album as souvenirs from the party, of course.)
Julianne received a special hat and shirt from one of her grandparents for her first birthday.
The new one year old enjoyed strutting around in it!

Julianne received many wonderful presents for her birthday!
Besides delighting in her noisiest toys, Big Brother Caleb enjoyed pushing her around on her new "Little People bus."

And even though it SNOWED on Julianne's first birthday (April 14th, 2011)
a good time was had by all!

Happy 1st birthday to our Julianne,
who fills each day with smiles
and completes our little family!
We are so lucky
that you came into our lives!

After my daughter turned one year old, I created an ABC Shutterfly book to remember the highlights of her first year.
In The ABC's of Julianne's First Year, I wrote a caption for each picture, then added six more words for each letter to describe Julianne's babyhood.
